The house of merchant Vasily Kubrin is an architectural monument of the city of Astana, the beginning of the XX century. The house is a building built according to the architecture of that time, the house is very elegant, beautiful and unusual. The house was built in 1910. Kubrin's company traded various kinds of goods such as clothing, shoes, manufactory, and food products tea, sugar.
Vasily Kubrin was the son of the Akmola merchant Matvey Kubrin, the family founded a company that was called "Matvey Kubrin and Company". The family was engaged in trade on the territory of the city, had a network of shops, workshops, clothing repair shops. One of the legends says that Vasily Kubrin built this house for his bride, a ballerina from the Mariinsky Theater. This house was considered a big house for its time and was the biggest house in the city. From 2000 to 2019, the Embassy of Ukraine was located in the building, now the building is owned by the Astana City Archive.
