The Turgen Gorge is a beautiful mountain gorge, one of the main attractions of the Almaty region within the city of Almaty. The Turgen River flows through the gorge, which originates in the Zailiysky Alatau Mountains. The gorge is picturesque, it is especially beautiful here and warm in the summer, here you can ride horses, take a walk in the mountains and go rafting on the Turgen River. In the gorge there is a Medvezhy waterfall, the height of which is 30 meters, and in the upper reaches of the gorge there is also the famous high-mountain plateau Asy. On the banks of the Turgen River there are many special places for rest, gazebos, benches, places for making a fire, etc. We recommend visiting the Turgen Gorge on weekdays, when there is no one here, only locals, on weekends it can be quite crowded.

The Turgen Gorge is famous for the fact that the Golden Man (Altyn Adam) was discovered here in an ancient burial of the Saka period, and a monument to the Golden Man was also erected here. There is a trout farm in the gorge, here you can relax, fish for trout in specially designated places, and cook the fish you caught in a special local restaurant. In the gorge you can go to the Medvezhiy waterfall, and in the upper reaches of the gorge you can drive to the Asy plateau and the high-mountain astronomical observatory Assy-Turgen.
