Babaji-Khatun is a mausoleum, an architectural monument of the X-XI centuries in Kazakhstan. The mausoleum is a sacred place and a place of pilgrimage. The building is distinguished by its simplicity of architectural composition, monumentality and special beauty of forms. Thanks to its stability and construction on a stone foundation, the mausoleum has been preserved to this day. Since the end of the XIX century, the Babaja-Khatun mausoleum has been studied by several scientists in 1897 by V. A. Kallaur, in 1938 by A. N. Bernshtam, in 1953 by T. K. Basenov. Since 1982, the mausoleum has been included in the list of architectural monuments and taken under state protection. In 2002, restoration work was carried out in the Babaja-Khatun mausoleum, the dome was restored and the foundation of the entire building was strengthened.

Babaji-Khatun Mausoleum is located in Zhambyl region, Zhambyl district next to Aisha-Bibi Mausoleum and 18 km from Taraz city.

Architecture -

Babaji-Khatun Mausoleum is small, rectangular in shape, the building is built in the form of a cube of red brick and has a height of 5 meters. The two facades of the building are similar to each other, with expressive brick drawings in the shape of the sun. The entrance door is located on the east side wall. The building is crowned by a 16-sided dome in the form of a pyramid. The surface of the facade walls is decorated with wrought-iron arched windows and voids. Above the windows there are brick circles made of decorative masonry. The mausoleum building testifies to a very high level of construction art of that time.
