Wooden lake (Derevyannoye) is a beautiful lake, located among sand dunes, which gives this lake an extraordinary beauty and mystery. This natural object is a popular natural and tourist attraction of the Almaty region and the region. The height at which the lake is located is 520 meters above sea level, the small Karaeren river originates from the lake. You can even fish in the Wooden Lake, but this must be done with the permission of the local gamekeeper. Presumably, the lake was formed at the beginning of the last century or in the XIX century. On one side, the lake is surrounded by sands that come from the Ili River, which creates an unusual and beautiful contrast. Trees grow in the lake, which is why it is called Wooden. Turang groves grow here, salt marshes and marshes are found. It is a well-known fact that the Turanian Tiger lived in this area, specifically in Turang groves and reeds. There are wild boars, foxes, hares, and wolves here. There are a lot of ducks, geese, herons, cranes on the lake.
