In 1802, in the camp of Sultan Kasym, a boy was born - Kenesary, a descendant of the great Abylai Khan. Full name Kenesary Kasymuly, Kazakh khan, was elected in 1841 at a meeting of the Kazakh nobility, leader of the national liberation movement in 1845, khan-chingizit.

According to legend, Kenesary, the grandson of Khan Abylai, the son of Kasym Sultan, learned to ride a horse and aim at a target with a bow. He loved to hunt in the tugai valleys of Borovoye. After the hunt, he settled down with his squad in a cave. That is why it is popularly called “Kenesary's cave”.

Kenesary cave, Kokshetau cave, is located 0.5 km south-west of Borovoe lake, on the territory of Burabay district of Akmola region. The cave was formed as a result of erosion of the granite massif of the Kokshetau plateau and is located on a low hill. The height of the depression at the entrance to the cave is about 3 m. It consists of two parts. They are connected by a narrow cavity. There is a grotto that protrudes from the second part. The main cave is round, with a diameter of 5-6 m and a height of 1-3 m. The temperature inside the cave differs from the outside by 2-3 ° C. The Kenesary Cave is one of the most popular tourist places in the Borovoe resort.
