Burabay Park is the heart of the steppes and legend among lakes and rocks

Organization of recreation and travel in Borovoye -

Trip from Almaty to Burabay National Park -

Where the vast Kazakh steppes smoothly merge into hills and coniferous forests, a real natural masterpiece is hidden – Burabay National Park. This is a place where the open spaces breathe freedom, and the landscapes resemble scenes from ancient legends. Here, among mountains, lakes and pine forests, the very soul of Kazakhstan seems to come alive. Here, the mountains are like guardians of time — the Okzhetpes rock (You can't reach it with an arrow), the Zhumbaktas Island rock and others – stand as if guarding ancient legends. Every rock and stream here are imbued with the spirit of legends, in which the heroes and heroes of the past come to life. The Park contains such famous lakes as: Lake Borovoe, Small Chebachye Lake, Bolshoe Chebachye Lake, Lake Zhukey, Lake Shortankol, Lake Shchuchye. In addition to these natural attractions, the park is famous for such attractions as Abylai Khan's Glade, Kenesary Cave and the forest of Dancing Birches. The Kokshetau upland is located in the park, to the top of which there are interesting and not difficult mountain routes.

Information -

Burabay National Park is both an oasis for the traveler and a temple for the nature lover. Here you can walk along the paths, explore the rocky cliffs, meet the dawn on the shore and listen to the wind, which sings its ancient songs. It is also a territory of rare plants, birds and animals that live in complete harmony with nature. It is an amazing symbiosis of forests, lakes and granite rocks, creating a unique ecosystem in the heart of Kazakhstan. The 129-thousand-hectare park area is a transitional zone between the steppes and the taiga, which determines its incredible biological diversity. Century-old pines and slender birches grow here, which are often more than three centuries old, and the air is filled with healing phytoncides. Granite rocks, polished by the winds over millions of years, take on bizarre shapes, resembling ancient idols or fantastic animals. Located on the border of steppe and forest zones, the park is a unique natural complex where coniferous forests, bizarre rock formations and picturesque lakes harmoniously combine. This corner of nature is often called "Kazakhstan's Switzerland" for its amazing similarity to the Alpine landscapes.

Nature and climate -

Burabay National Nature Park is an amazing place where pine forests are combined with majestic cliffs and crystal-clear lakes. The park's territory covers more than 129 thousand hectares, and each of its directions is like a separate story. The climate here is temperate continental: in summer it is warm, but not stuffy (on average +20...+25°C), and in winter it is snowy and fabulously frosty. Spring awakens here with the aromas of resin and pine needles, and autumn glows with the fiery colors of foliage. The air of the park is a separate conversation. The air here has healing properties – saturated with ions and coniferous aromas, it is especially useful for people with diseases of the respiratory system. It's the kind of air you want to drink. It is not for nothing that this area is called "Kazakhstan Switzerland" - for its mild climate, healthy atmosphere and unique beauty. It is home to more than 700 plant species, including rare and medicinal ones. Pines, birches, firs, shrubs and many flowers grow here. Among the animals, you can find roe deer, foxes, badgers, hares, and if you're lucky, moose. And there are so many birds here that the air rings with their songs.
Burabay is a place where you come not just to see, but to feel. Time freezes here. It's easy to breathe here. Here you can feel your body resting and your soul filling up.

Tourist mosaic and unique phenomena -

Burabay Park offers an endless variety of experiences at any time of the year. In the morning, you can observe the mysterious "blue fog" creeping across the mirrored surface of the lakes, in the afternoon you can hike to the legendary Okzhetpes or Zhumbaktas rocks, each of which is steeped in ancient legends. In the evening, it is worth going up to one of the observation decks to see how the last rays of the sun turn the granite giants in golden-pink tones.
In winter, Burabay Park is transformed – snow-covered pines and frost-covered rocks create the atmosphere of a winter fairy tale. Ice fishing (pike, perch, and ripus are found in the lakes), dog sledding, and skiing along specially paved trails are especially popular at this time. A unique phenomenon is "singing" ice, when, at a certain temperature, the ice cover of lakes emits melodious sounds reminiscent of cosmic music.
For the convenience of tourists, a well–developed infrastructure has been created - from elite resorts like Rixos Borovoe to cozy guest houses in the wilderness. Horseback riding along ecological trails is especially popular, during which you can see roe deer, moose and even rare white-tailed eagles. And those who want to truly experience the magic of these places can go on a multi–day hiking trip with tents - at night in Burabay, the starry sky is especially beautiful, which seems incredibly close.

Legend -

There are many legends describing the origin of Burabay Park. One legend tells that the Creator left only arid steppes to the nomads of Kazakhstan. Feeling offended, the Kazakh people began to pray to God and God heard their prayers and gave the people mountains, forests, lakes and rivers. This is how Burabai Park was born, and to this day it is called the "pearl of Kazakhstan". Another legend says that there was a famous Garden of Eden in Burabay Park in Kazakhstan, where the first people of the earth, Adam and Eve, appeared.
