Arykbalyk Lake is a beautiful, picturesque lake, has the shape of an almost perfect circle, located in Aiyrtau District, half of the lake shore around the circumference is occupied by the picturesque village of Arykbalyk. The length of the lake is 1.7 kilometers, the width is 1.7 kilometers, the depth is 5 meters. The lake is part of the Kokshetau National Nature Park and is part of a unique natural complex of the region. The eastern part of the lake is surrounded by mixed forests, where birch and pine trees predominate, creating favorable conditions for recreation and tourism. The water in the lake is fresh, and the shores are rocky in places, which gives the landscape a special picturesqueness. Near the lake in the pine forest there is Mount Kotelok, Mount Arykbalyk and Mount Imantau, a little further there is another beautiful lake Imantau which is much larger in size and has infrastructure for recreation.
The name "Arykbalyk" can be translated as "Fish channel" or "Fish ditch", which indicates its importance as a source of food for the local population. Old-timers say that in especially fishing years the catch here was so abundant that it was enough for the whole district. Due to its proximity to the village of Arykbalyk, the lake is easily accessible for tourists and local residents. The village has social infrastructure facilities, including a school-gymnasium, medical institutions and cultural centers, which makes staying in this area comfortable. Lake Arykbalyk attracts lovers of nature, fishing and quiet rest. Its natural beauty and clean air create ideal conditions for camping, hiking and watching wildlife.
