Lysaya Mountain in Burabay district

Little-known natural attractions of Burabai Park -

Borovie Lakes travel in Kazakhstan -

In the very heart of the Burabay district, where the pine forests suddenly part, the unusual mountain Lysaya (Bald) rises – a tall giant with character. Its top, devoid of vegetation, seems to have been specially shaved by the winds, which gives it a recognizable silhouette and justifies the name. The height of the mountain is 621 meters above sea level, which makes it one of the highest points of the Burabay National Park. There is an observation tower at the top of the mountain, from which the park is monitored. Special weather equipment is also installed here to collect information about air quality, temperature, precipitation levels, etc.

Bald Mountain (Lysaya) is a natural mystery. Unlike the rounded green hills around, the mountain rises sharply with granite slopes covered only with sparse tufts of grass and rare pine trees. Geologists say that this relief is the result of ancient tectonic shifts, and locals whisper that this is a place of power, where the voices of spirits are especially well heard. From the top of the mountain there is a beautiful panorama of the national park, in clear weather you can see Lake Shchuchye, Lake Borovoye and Lake Katarkol. It is convenient to get to the mountain by car from the village of Katarkol or from the village of Borovoe through the village of Sarybulak. You can also walk through the forest here, but for this you need to use the services of a guide who knows the local trails.

How to get there and visit -

Information -

Bald Mountain is like a stage for the sky. On sunny days, you can feel the vastness here, and on cloudy days, you can feel the meditative silence. And at sunset, the Bald Mountain turns orange and gold, as if its peak is the dome of a steppe temple. The slope of the mountain is not too steep, and anyone can climb. The walk will take about 30-40 minutes, and there is also a car leading to the top. At the top, you will feel as if time has stopped. There is no noise, no fuss – just the steppe, the sky and the breath of the wind. A great place to meditate, take photos, or just reflect on life. Legends say that Bald Mountain was once a mother mountain that took on the blows of thunder and storms to save neighboring trees and people. Since then, its peak has remained open as a symbol of sacrifice and strength. There is silence, fields, and small woodlands near the mountain. There are rarely crowds of tourists here, and this makes Bald especially valuable for those who are looking for quiet, secluded places.
