Information -

Nedelka Fountain was built during the Soviet era and quickly became a favorite place for meetings, walks and recreation. For many city residents, the fountain was a kind of landmark, a place for dates, a symbol of youth and romance. It looks especially beautiful in the evening, the fountain has very beautiful lighting and also reflects the lights of the city, and the sound of the water merges with the light hum of the Almaty streets. The fountain is architecturally designed in a laconic style typical of the second half of the 20th century, but it is precisely this simplicity that contains its special aesthetics. Seven bowls, arranged in a stepped composition, create a sense of harmony and smoothness, and the round shape symbolizes the eternal circle of life. For Almaty residents, Nedelka has always been more than just architecture - they made dates here, celebrated weddings, and greeted the sunrises after graduations. Even during the years of perestroika, when much was collapsing, the fountain remained an island of stability and beauty. After the reconstruction of the 2010s, it retained its historical appearance, but acquired modern technologies: a water purification system, energy-efficient lighting, and the surrounding space was landscaped for comfortable relaxation.

Today, the Nedelka fountain is not only a part of the city's history, but also a monument to the era that continues to delight the eye and soul of Almaty residents. During the day, Nedelka lives its measured life: water flows from tier to tier, creating a soothing noise that drowns out the city hum. Parents allow their children to run barefoot on the wet tiles, and elderly couples sit on benches, reminiscing about their youth. As evening approaches, the lighting turns on — at first soft, almost watercolour-like, and then grows into a dynamic light show that turns the fountain into a magical spectacle.
