Petropavlovsk city of the North Kazakhstan region was founded in 1752. The city has 3 theaters, 1 philharmonic hall, 3 museums, 8 libraries, 3 club institutions. This is one of the northern cities of Kazakhstan, the distance from the border with Russia to the city of Petropavlovsk is only 40 kilometers. The Ishim River flows near the city, there is an embankment on this river in the city. A beautiful birch forest is located within the city limits.

Petropavlovsk was founded in 1752 as an outpost of the army of the Russian Empire to control the nomadic peoples of the steppe. It received the title of a city in 1807. Due to its role as a shopping center specializing in silk and carpets before the October Revolution in 1917. After this date, the city gradually industrialized. After Kazakhstan gained independence and joined the Commonwealth of Independent States in 1991, the city became exclusively Kazakh.
