Shymbulak Ski Resort

Shymbulak is the oldest and most famous ski resort in our country. For the first time, the slopes of the picturesque Shymbulak tract in the Ile-Alatau National Park were developed in the 40s. As the skiing sports base "Shymbulak" has been operating since 1954 - since the first time there were rope-towing lifts. Since 1983, the base began to work as an Olympic ski training center. There are three downhill runs, certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS). In general, the resort has both gentle and soft slopes for beginners, and long routes for trained skiers. Many experienced skiers note a good "rolling" of the trails, which in some cases may be a minus, since in the most popular areas there is little snow. On the main slope there are concentrated "red" routes of an average level of complexity. In the Conus area (2,845 meters) there are several "black" trails for the most experienced skiers. There is also a freeride track and freestyle area with figures for performing ski tricks - Chimba Supernatural Park. Trails for beginners are closer to the descent from the slopes. Also a pair of "blue" (light) routes is located on Left Talgar. The highest point of the slopes for skiing is the Talgar Pass (3,180 meters).

Lifts

The resort has seven lifts. A modern cable car from the Medeo rink leads to the lower point of the ski slopes. The time of ascent is 15 minutes. The main slope is served by two combined lifts (gondolas and armchairs). Combi-1 leads to the middle of the slope, from which several "red" routes start. Combi-2 comes to the third level of the slopes - the Talgar Pass. Here begins another "red" route - Talgar. On the other side of the pass there are several trails for beginners. The cableway KKD-4 leads to the Konus, where complex routes begin. A small drag lift from the bottom of the slope leads to a simple route for children and beginners.

Catering and accommodation

At the foot of the slopes of the resort "Shymbulak" is the hotel Shymbulak Resort Hotel. The hotel has a café, a sauna and a Wi-Fi. Double rooms are divided into classes standard, junior suite, family, suite, super-suite. The cost of the rooms is from 20 000 to 100 000 tenge, depending on the type.

In the resort there are many restaurants, cafes and bars. The average bill in most of these institutions is from 5,000 to 10,000 tenge per person.

Transport

The easiest and cheapest way to get to Shymbulak is by bus No. 6 or No. 12 (from the stop opposite the Kazakhstan Hotel) to the Medeo rink, then use the gondola road. You can also drive by car on the road from the rink, but it is rather tortuous. The cost of parking in the resort is 2,500 tenge per day.
