The village of Saudakent is located in the foothills of Karatau, famous for the fact that in the village there is the ancient settlement of Saudakent of the 9th-15th centuries, which is a historical and archaeological landmark of the region. Also in the village there is the famous Shokai Datka mausoleum and the mausoleum of Ykylas Dukenov. The Shabakty River flows through the village, which originates in Karatau and flows into Lake Akshar north of Saudakent. Excavations in 1946 revealed evidence that ancient settlements existed on the site of the modern village back in the 6th century. Since 1931, this village has been called Baikadam since its foundation in 1928. After Kazakhstan gained independence in 1993, the village was renamed Saudakent. According to the latest census of 2021, Saudakent had a population of 5,275 people.
