Jeep tour to Utebay Cave and Balayuk Cave -

Mangyshlak Peninsula caves, speleological tourism -

Utebai is a karst cave, formed due to the failure of the upper part of the earth's rock, possibly during an earthquake or other natural factors. The cave is an underground passage, which at first was not a cave, but due to the collapse of the upper part of the soil, this passage, the cavity became accessible, you can go down into the cave if desired. 10 km from the Utebai cave there is another famous Balayuk cave, which is much deeper and there is a small lake at the bottom of the cave. The Utebai cavity was explored by expeditions from our company for the first time in 2012, then we visited the cave in 2015 and 2022. This natural object is popular and is located on a tourist route that runs along the Mangyshlak peninsula.

The depth of the Utebai cave is about 40 meters, the length of the cave tunnel is 20-30 meters, the cave is quite extensive, has 2 entrances, south and east. South wide entrance, east narrow. It is quite light in the cave when the sun is at the zenith and the maximum amount of sunlight gets inside. In the cave in the spring during the melting of snow, a small lake is formed for a short period of time. You can go down to the Utebai cave, to visit this cave, you need to have special equipment, helmets to protect your head, flashlights, good shoes, make the descent in the presence of a specialist and a guide to the caves. You can also make an independent descent, but at the same time you need to observe all safety measures for being underground. We do not recommend going down into the cave alone.
