Kyzylorda is a city in the south of Kazakhstan, the administrative, economic and cultural center of the Kyzylorda region (since 1938). Located on the right bank of the Syrdarya river. The city is located at an altitude of 126-130 m above sea level. The city's territory stretches from south-east to north-west along the Syrdarya river. The city was built in 1817 in the village of Kamyskala. During the Kokand Khanate, it was built as a fortress Akmeshit, in April 1925 it was renamed Kyzylorda and received the status of the capital of the Kazakh SSR. In 1938 it became a regional center.
