The house of the merchant Zaitsev is an architectural monument, a monument of wooden architecture of the 19th century, and is an architectural landmark of the city of Pavlodar. The house, incredibly beautiful, was built back in 1898, red and white, in the center of the house there is a summer kitchen or veranda, which protrudes outward from the general structure of the house. The house has been preserved in its original form, the same color the house was at the time it was built, the construction material was wood. The owner of the house was originally the owner of a brewery, then the house was resold and the third owner of the house was the merchant Zaitsev, after whom this house was named.

Information -
The house of the merchant Zaitsev was originally used for the residence of the merchant himself; after the October Revolution, the house was used for various needs of the city. The house was then used as a people's court building, then the headquarters of the Communist Party was located here, then it was the department of urban architecture, the headquarters of civil defense, etc. At the moment, there is a museum in the merchant’s house; the building, as an architectural landmark of the city, is under protection and is managed by the city administration. The house of the merchant Zaitsev is an L-shaped structure and is the clearest example of a merchant mansion of that time. The architectural style of the mansion building is called Russian eclecticism. The outside of the house is covered with decorative carved wooden panels; lace patterns of various shapes and directions were used to decorate them. There is a very beautiful fireplace inside the house.
Museum -
The museum in the house of the merchant Zaitsev has been operating since 1992, it is a museum of literature and art named after Bukhar Zhyrau, it displays 50,000 exhibits dedicated to the writers and poets of the region. The museum building is used for holding various kinds of cultural events such as creative evenings, literary competitions. Museum programs include: “Museum Day”, “Orphanage”, lectures dedicated to the traditions and customs of the Kazakhs.
