Monument to Zhangildin Alibi Tokzhanovich

Kazakh revolutionaries -

Almaty-1 Railway Station Tour -

Alibi Dzhangildin Monument is a monument dedicated to the famous Kazakh revolutionary, statesman and public thinker, whose name has forever entered the history of Kazakhstan. It is located and installed in Almaty[/u] on the forecourt of the Almaty-1 railway station and serves as a reminder of the man who played an important role in the formation of the new statehood at the beginning of the 20th century. This is not just a monument, but a tribute to the incredible fate of a diplomat, traveler and a true national hero.

The total height of the monument is 11 meters. The monument is executed in a classical manner: a full-length bronze figure depicts Dzhangildin as energetic and strong-willed. He is depicted in full-length motion, wearing a long raincoat. The left leg peeks out from under the raincoat, because Alibi takes a step to a small elevation, so the leg is slightly raised. His head is turned slightly to the right without a headdress, his gaze is directed into the distance, in his right hand he holds a document or scroll – a symbol of the ideas and transformations that he sought to bring to life.

The figure of the revolutionary is mounted on a tall black granite pedestal. The pedestal on which the figure stands is decorated with inscriptions with his name. There is a green area around the monument, which makes it even more visible and solemn. There are also benches where you can relax in the shade of the trees.

History

The monument to Alibi Dzhangildin was erected in Soviet times in 1975, when the memory of revolutionary figures was actively perpetuated in the country. Dzhangildin himself (1884-1953) is a truly ambitious personality. His life was full of unexpected turns: a student of an Orthodox theological seminary who became a staunch revolutionary; the first Kazakh to travel around the world alone; a commissar of the Provisional Government.

At the beginning of the 20th century, he actively participated in the struggle for social change, was an organizer of underground work, participated in the revolutionary events of 1917, and supported the establishment of Soviet power in Kazakhstan. His activities were not limited to politics. Dzhangildin also dealt with education issues, supported the development of science and culture, and believed in the need to modernize Kazakh society. For this, he was called the "first commissioner of the steppe."
