Family recreation center "Ailand" in Astana

Multifunctional hub for family leisure -

The largest entertainment complex with a unique Guinness World Record oceanarium -

The Ailand Family Recreation Center is a unique project for Kazakhstan, bringing together the most popular types of entertainment under one roof.

The main pride of the complex is the Oceanarium, officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the most remote from the ocean in the world – the distance to the big water is about 3,000 miles. In the immediate vicinity of the center are the Atameken Ethno-Memorial Complex and the city's Central Park.

Here, in the middle of the steppes, a real marine ecosystem has been recreated, where more than two thousand individuals live in 3 million liters of water, including sharks, rays, and hundreds of species of freshwater and marine hydrobionts. A walk through the 70-meter transparent tunnel creates a full feeling of being on the seabed. After visiting the center, you can walk along the Ishim River embankment located nearby and cross to the right bank of the river via the Atyrau pedestrian bridge.

The complex offers entertainment for every taste: from extreme water slides in the capital's only indoor water park to educational excursions in the Jungle animatronic theater. A comfortable environment for the whole family has been created on the territory of Ailand: there are cafes and restaurants of various cuisines, shopping areas, and an Exotarium with rare animal species.

The facility is fully adapted for visitors with disabilities. Thanks to the high level of safety and modern climate control systems, the center is a favorite place for citizens and tourists at any time of the year, offering an immersion into a tropical atmosphere even in the harsh Astana frosts.

History

The entertainment center was opened in 2003 and was originally known to residents as the Duman complex. The project was a breakthrough for the young capital, offering unique engineering solutions for keeping marine life far from its natural environment.

To fill the aquariums, 120 tons of special sea salt from the Red and Dead Seas are brought in annually. In 2017, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out, after which the center received the name Ailand and acquired the tallest Ferris wheel in the country, built taking into account the harsh weather conditions of the region.

Information

Ticket prices for the water park vary from 5,400 to 10,400 tenge depending on age and day of the week. Admission to the Oceanarium or Jungle for an adult costs 4,200 tenge. When visiting the water park, it is mandatory to have a synthetic swimsuit, flip-flops, and a towel.
For children under 2 years old, a waterproof diaper is required.
Food courts with non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, as well as a shop for swimming goods and toys, operate on the territory.

Detailed description of the zones

• Water Park: An area of 8,500 square meters accommodates 1,500 people. It has seven slides, a wave pool, a lazy river, and a heated floor system. The water temperature is maintained at 30-32 degrees.
• Jungle and Exotarium: An animatronic theater with realistic robot dinosaurs and a zoo where an albino Burmese python, a red-handed tamarin, and Madagascar cockroaches live.
• Ferris Wheel: Height 65 meters, construction weight 270 tons. Equipped with 36 cabins with heating and air conditioning. A full revolution takes 14 minutes.
• Summer Park: Carousels for children from 3 years old, water attractions, and a platform for summer music festivals next to a green park and mist fountains.

Architecture

The center is a multifunctional building where the water park and oceanarium zones are divided into two floors. The water park is designed with high safety standards: two lifeguards work on each slide. The Ferris wheel is a unique engineering structure capable of operating in winds up to 20 m/s and temperatures down to -15 degrees. The interior decoration of the recreation areas is done in a tropical style using moisture-resistant and eco-friendly materials.

Legend

A popular story among visitors is that a spirit of the ancient sea lives in the deep tunnels of the Oceanarium, fulfilling the wishes of those who see a rare ray at the moment of feeding.
In the Jungle, children believe that if you leave a coin at the paw of the largest dinosaur, he will become a protector and bring luck in studies.
