Trip from Almaty to the Asy River on the Asy Plateau -
Asy is a picturesque mountain river that flows along the Asy mountain plateau of the same name, which is also a natural landmark and a frequently visited place. The length of the river is 65 kilometers, the river originates in the Sarytau Mountains in the Bulaksaz mountain gorge. The height at which the Asy River is located is 2500 meters above sea level. In the summer, nomads set up their yurts along the river and graze their cattle. The river flows along the entire plateau, not far from the river is the Assy-Turgen Space Observatory, and the river also flows near the Zhaman-Uy tract where the Zhaman-Uy rock paintings are located. From this tract, a mountain road will take you to the Bartogay reservoir. The river is not deep, it is not full-flowing or turbulent and the river can be crossed on foot or by car. There are many fords along the plateau where the river can be crossed without any risk.
