The beginning of the mountain trail along the Prokhodnoye gorge starts from the Alma-Arasan sanatorium, hot springs are located here, which are also very popular among the local population. The route passes through the gorge along the river, which is also called Prohodnaya. Along the entire route there is a mountain path that crosses the river several times, pedestrian bridges are laid across the river, along which you can cross the river along the route. The length of the Prokhodnoye gorge is 18 kilometers. In the upper reaches of the Prokhodnoye gorge, there is the Almaty mountain pass, which is located at an altitude of 3599 meters above sea level. In ancient times, the Almaty pass was used as a caravan route for passage to Kyrgyzstan and further to China.
