Astana Arena is the main stadium of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the stadium holds 30,000 spectators. It is part of six stadiums in the world with a moving roof. Initially, even on the day of the official opening, the stadium was called Kazhymukan Stadium in honor of the famous Kazakh fighter Kazhymukan Munaytpasuly. Later, the stadium received its current name Astana Arena. The stadium is primarily focused on football, but can also be dedicated to the country's favorite sports, including wrestling, judo and boxing, as well as other sporting events.

Architecture
"Astana Arena" was conceived as a large amphitheater with a two-level structure for 33,000 seats: a lower terrace for 16,000 seats, surrounding, and an upper platform for 17,000 seats, suspended on the western and eastern sides. The sliding roof opens and closes in 20 minutes. The stadium site is artificial and adapted for hosting world-class games and concerts.
History
Astana Arena was opened on July 3, 2009, and the first football game at this stadium was held on the same day between Lokomotiv (Astana) and the youth national team of Kazakhstan. The referee of this game was the famous Italian Pierluigi Collina, and the first kick of the ball was performed by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. The grand opening of the Winter Games of the 7th Asian Games took place at the Astana Arena.
