Excursion to Akkainar petroglyphs of Bronze age in Almaty province
Akkainar petroglyphs (rock carvings) located in the Almaty region, petroglyphs are the cultural heritage of the ancient era and are under the protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan. We invite you to a one-day excursion program to the petroglyphs of Akkainar, plunge into the world of antiquity and look at the fine art of our ancestors.
Rock carvings of Akkainar number hundreds of images, here you will see images of people, animals, there are also images of groups of people and animals, drawings of bulls with long horns prevail, perhaps these are ancient images of buffaloes. There are images of people with masks on their heads. Petroglyphs date back to the Bronze Age, the second millennium BC.

Tour itinerary:
Almaty City – Samsy Village – Targap Village – Otar Train Station – Matibulak Village – Ak-Kainar Ravine (194 km, 4 hours).
Early in the morning, we leave Almaty for Ak-Kainar Ravine. We'll travel on a well-paved road to Otar Station, and after passing the station, we'll continue on the paved road to Mitibulak Village.
Passing the village, we'll drive another three kilometers along the road and turn onto a dirt road. After driving eleven kilometers, we'll arrive at Ak-Kainar Ravine near the petroglyphs.
Upon reaching our destination, we'll go on an excursion to the rock carvings, walk around the ravine, explore the local settlements, and take photos. Then, we'll return to Almaty. The route will be 194 kilometers long.
