Akmechet is an underground mosque, a complex of monuments, a holy place, a place of pilgrimage. The mosque was built by Sufi Beket-Ata (religious figure), and belongs to the period of the XVIII-XX century. Akmechet attracts pilgrims from all over Kazakhstan and the world, you can always meet people here, read a prayer, just talk and relax. Usually people go to the mosque from the city of Atyrau.

Information -

Akmechet consists of 32 kulpytas, 2 koytas, 2 domed mausoleums and one saganatam. 13 kulpytas have architectural, decorative, historical and ethnographic significance. Translated from Kazakh, Akmechet means White Mosque and is a spiritual, historical and architectural monument.
