The church here was built back in 1882, the material was wood, when the church was built it was incredibly beautiful, was completely white, its roof was crowned by a long spire, and next to the second part of the building there is a small golden dome, at the moment neither the spire nor the dome have been preserved and completely lost. At the moment, the church is a monument, there is even a special plaque on it, but the building is still being destroyed.

Information -
The Church of the Intercession in Katon-Karagai worked and welcomed its parishioners in the 30s. The church was built with the money of the Cossack Military Economic Administration and the Cossack parishioners. One of the most remarkable monuments of Orthodox church architecture in the territory of Eastern Kazakhstan until recently was the wooden church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the village of Katon-Karagai. Despite the fact that the Pokrovsky Temple was built of wood, in its appearance, as well as the plan, the architectural techniques inherent in the brick structures of the Irtysh region of the late XIX - early XX centuries were clearly read. The various parts of the building: the vestibule, the refectory, the great hall and the altar were decorated with a pattern of window openings, as well as decorative design of the western, southern and northern gates. The main volume of the building (a quadrangle) ended in an octagon, and a tall slender bell tower with a tent-like completion towered over the narthex (west side). The article presents the author's reconstruction of the original appearance of the church, carried out on the basis of field studies of the remains of the building, as well as a study of the project of the Pokrovsky Temple, now stored in the funds of the regional architectural and ethnographic museum-reserve (VKMZ, Ust-Kamenogorsk). This is perhaps the only drawing of the rural church of the Irtysh region that has been discovered at the present time. The funds of the ethnographic museum also contain some religious objects (the altar Gospel, wedding crowns, books, icons), testifying to the former wealth of the now lost decoration of the Intercession Church. In the first two decades of the Soviet period, divine services continued to be held more or less regularly in the temple.
