Information -
The necropolis of Karagashty is notable for the fact that on its territory there are monuments with highly artistic images that reflect the development of architectural traditions and decorative and applied arts in our region. On one of the monuments of kulpytas there is a highly accurate and very beautiful image of a girl with pigtails, which is very rare since according to the laws of Islam, female images are prohibited. This indicates that the religion of Islam was adopted by our ancestors. Many monuments on the necropolis of Karagashty are very ancient, they are over two thousand years old, so there is an assumption that the necropolis existed here in the period before the new era. Many monuments have been destroyed since then, but modern restorers have shown wonders of restoration techniques and repaired many monuments. The necropolis of Karagashty is included in the list of monuments of the Mangystau region and is under the protection of the state of Kazakhstan.
