Information -

The Mausoleum of Akhmet (Kyzyl-Tam) Akhmet was first explored in 1955 by the Akmola archaeological expedition led by K. Akishev. Later, in 1980, it was studied by an expedition of the Kaz-Regeneration institution (headed by Zh. Shaikenov), and in 2006 by the Main Directorate of the Research and Design Department of the Republican State Enterprise KazZhoba Restoration (under the leadership of G. Kamalova). The mausoleum was built by the builders Turabay and Rapai by order of the merchant Akhmet Tankeyev. The walls are made of clay mortar and baked rectangular bricks and are faced with burnt bricks on both sides, the basement floor is made of slate. The facade at the four corners of the quadrangle is divided to a height of 2 meters from the base. The largest cracks in the brickwork with vertical cracks are observed on the south-east facade along the staircase towards the roof. The size of the area in plan is 6.3 x 6.7 meters, which corresponds to the portal-dome shape of the mausoleum. Above the quadrangle, a spherical-conical dome on a cylindrical drum rises to a height of 2.5 meters. The total height of the mausoleum is 7.15 meters. The main facade on the southwestern side is made in the form of a rectangular portal, formed by extending the main wall above the square. The arched door niche is flanked on both sides by narrow columns connected by a curved façade. Based on the decorative design on the facade, Arabic inscriptions of the word “Allah” are applied in diamond-shaped patterns mixed with vertical stone stripes along the perimeter of the facade walls, framed by rows of square bricks.
