Architectural sights of the Azret Sultan Museum-Reserve -

Azret Sultan State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve was founded in 1991 on the basis of the architectural complex-museum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. The central object of the museum-reserve is the mausoleum of Khoja Akhmad Yasav. This is the first monument of Kazakhstan included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The territory of the reserve-museum is 90 hectares.

Information -

Azret Sultan is a scientific and educational institution whose goal is to collect, preserve and study archeological and architectural monuments of the city of Turkestan and the Turkestan region. The museum-reserve includes a number of buildings: the city of Kultobe, the underground mosque Khilvet, the ritual building of Shildekhana, an unnamed octagonal tomb, a tomb-mosque, the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, an oriental bathhouse, the tombs of Rabiga Begim, the tombs of Abylay Khan, Kasym -khan, Zhanibek Batyr, and others, the Zhuma mosque, the medieval building of the citadel, fortifications with defensive walls, towers, gates, military barracks, a complex with an audio-video panorama of ancient Turkestan, the underground mosque of Auli Kumshik Ata, the remains of the graves of Alhoja Ata and Gauhar Ana.
