Derov's house is an architectural monument, the pride of the city of Pavlodar, the first brick building of the city, was built in 1896, architect P. Batov. The money for the construction of the house was given by a very rich man, merchant A.I. Derov, he was engaged in retail and wholesale trade, selling haberdashery, textiles, footwear, jewelry, and clothing. The Derov building was built in the “Siberian Art Nouveau” style. The building is a one-story long brick building that stretches along the street, with large windows along the perimeter; on the roof of the building there is a rather large tower, which served to inspect and monitor the surrounding area and ships passing by on the Irtysh River. The tower was demolished in 1953, but later in 2012 the tower was restored using photographs by Dmitry Bogachev with extreme precision. The building now houses the Grigory Potanin Museum of History and Local Lore.
