Pavlodar Kazakh Musical Drama Theater named after J.Aimauytov the theater opened its curtain on December 7, 1990 with the musical comedy by M. Auezov "Ayman-Sholpan" staged by the Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize Yerayyn Tapenov. The theater troupe was represented by drama actors from the Almaty State Theater and Art Institute (now the Kazakh National Academy of Arts). Musical works have taken a significant place in the repertoire of the theater, along with national and translation plays. Among them are “Akan Seri-Aktokty". Musrepova and "Kozy Korpesh-Bayan Sulu", "Karagoz" by M. Auezov and others. The theater has a symphony orchestra (conductor B. Rakhimzhanov) and a group of dancers (director B. Kyrykbayeva).

The Musical Drama Theater of J.Aimauytova appears at the forefront of the theaters of the republic, having turned from a small team into a highly professional acting team, which at the moment is a professional in its field. Leading masters of Kazakh and foreign scenes are invited to stage theatrical productions. The repertoire of the Party of arts includes more than 90 performances of various genres. The best examples of world, Russian and national drama are staged on the stage of the theater, which are in demand among the audience. In 1995 and 2008, the actors of the theater became laureates of the international National Theater Festival in Egypt. In 2001, at the international theater competition in Bishkek, theater actor Beibit Shanim was awarded the nomination "For the best actor". At the XVI Republican festival of theatrical art dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Nurmukhan Zhanturin in Aktau, he shared the first place with the Nurmukhan Zhanturin Musical Drama Theater in Aktau.
