Monument-bust of Hero of the Soviet Union A. Moldagulova - erected in the city of Aktobe in 1960. The 1.3 meter high bust of Alia is mounted on a high stone stele, the total height of the monument is 3 meters in height and 3 meters of granite base. There is a memorial plaque on the monument that says: “Aliya Moldagulova Hero of the Soviet Union”. The bust of Aliya itself conveys the image of a hero in military uniform (tunic) and with a military cap on his head, with the star of the Hero of the Soviet Union emblazoned on his chest.

Aliya Nurmukhambetovna Moldagulova was born October 25, 1925 in Bulak-Khobdinsk, Aktobe, Kazakh SSR, buried January 14, 1944 in Novosokolniki, Pskov region. She was a Soviet soldier, a sniper. For her work as a sniper during World War II, she was awarded the title of "Hero of the Soviet Union", making her the only woman from Central Asia, along with Manshuk Mametova, to also receive this award. Aliya lost her parents as a child and grew up in her uncle's family. The uncle's family moved first to Moscow in 1935 and then to Leningrad, where in 1939 the uncle placed them in an orphanage. In March 1942, the orphanage was evacuated to a village in the Yaroslavl region due to bombing. In October 1942, she began training to become a pilot, but just three months later she volunteered for service in the Red Army. In May 1943, she was one of the first to undergo training at the new sniper training center in Moscow. Two months later, she and her colleagues at the sniper academy joined the 54th Infantry of the 22nd Army on the 2nd Baltic Front. During her service, according to some sources, she killed 78 Wehrmacht soldiers and officers, according to others - 91. In January 1944, she was wounded in close combat in Novosokolniki and died from repeated wounds. On June 4, 1944, she was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. After her death, she also received the Order of Lenin. In 1995, Kazakhstan issued a stamp with her image for the 50th anniversary of Victory Day. Monuments to her honor were erected in the cities of Astana, Aktobe, Almaty and Novosokolniki. The film “Snipers” (1986) directed by Bolotbek Shamshiev is an adaptation of the life of Aliya Moldagulova. In the film she is portrayed by actress Aiturgan Temirova.
