The monument to Abulkhair Khan was erected in the city of Aktobe opposite the city akimat in 2000. The monument is a complex structure consisting of a sculpture, a pedestal, a foundation and a mound. The sculpture of Abulkhair depicts him sitting on a horse with his right hand raised, which symbolizes the call of the Kazakh people to unity and victory. Abulkhair is dressed in a national Kazakh robe, a Kazakh hat on his head, his feet are shod in boots, and a huge sword hangs from the khan’s belt. The khan's left hand holds the reins. There is a plaque on the monument that says: “Abilkaiyr Khan.”

Information

Abulkhair Muhammad Gazi Bahadur Khan, also known as Abulkhair, Khan of the Junior Zhuz. He was the middle son of Haji Sultan, who ruled the city of Sauran at the end of the 17th century. According to folklore, he lost his parents and older brother early and found himself alone at a young age. During the conflict with the Volga Kalmyks, he was captured and served the Kalmyk Khan Ayuka in the 90s of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century. In the first decade of the 18th century, he proved himself to be a brave warrior and talented commander. In December 1707, together with the Bashkir rebels led by Tarkhan Aldar Isekeyev, he fought against the Russian army. The ten-day battle at the foot of Mount Yuraktau ended in victory for the rebels. In 1709, at the invitation of Aldar Isekeev, he returned to Eastern Bashkortostan and became the Bashkir Khan. He was forced to return to the Kazakh steppe due to the invasion of the Dzungar army. During the Dzungar invasion, he was elected commander-in-chief of the Kazakh army and proved himself to be a skillful leader. Under his command, the Kazakh army repeatedly defeated the Dzungarian invaders. Due to this, he gained great reputation among the people.
