Information

Zhangildin Alibi Tokzhanovich (1884 - 1953) was a prominent leader of the struggle for the establishment and strengthening of the Soviet government in Kazakhstan, a statesman of the Republic who traveled around the world in the small world, the first tourist in the Kazakh steppe. Alibi was born in 1884 into a poor peasant family in the village of Kaidaul, Turgai district, in the Kipchak clan, middle Zhuz. There were eight children in the family: three boys and five girls. Alibi, being the firstborn of a child, helped his father to herd the sheep of a local bai. In addition to cattle breeding, the father often hunted and always took his son with him. Alibi has been riding horses since he was seven years old. From an early age, Alibi had a strong desire to study, but the lack of schools in the near future prevented this. Soon Alibi runs away from home and, following the caravan, reaches Torgai and goes to school there, meets students, teachers, and makes friends. It is here that he first meets the legendary hero Amangeldy Imanov. Soon his father finds him and returns him home. While in his house, he ran away from home for the second time, seeing the injustice taking place in the Kazakh steppe. There, thanks to his unique memory and knowledge gained in the previous school, he entered the Russian-Kazakh school, at that time he was 12 years old. In just one year, he will master all the material, pass all the exams with honors and graduate from school. Then, in the direction of the school, he enters the Orenburg spiritual consistory. Later, he was transferred to the history department of the Academy in Moscow, but in 1905 he was expelled from his studies in the 2nd year for participating in the revolutionary movement. It is then that the desire to know another world, other peoples appears in Alibi. So, in 1910-1912, under the name "Nikolai Stepanov", he made hiking trips to the countries of Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The journey around the Earth lasted more than five years.
