The bust of Zhansen Kereev is a monument-sculpture, a construction of monumental art, installed in Aktobe in 1999. The monument consists of a pedestal lined with granite, on which a bronze sculpture of Lieutenant General Zhansen Kereev is installed. The total height of the monument is 5 meters. Sculptor: B. Abishev, architect: B. Egimbayev.

Information

Kereev Zhansen was born in 1930, in Soviet times he became the first among Kazakhs to become a lieutenant general. He graduated from the Blagoveshchensk General Military College of the Amur region. In Moscow, he graduated from the Frunze Military Academy with a gold medal. Graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR named after V.P. Vorshilov). He graduated from the higher academic course of the Military Academy of the General Staff. In 1950, he was drafted into the army and served on the Kuril Islands of the Sakhalin region. He commanded a platoon of the Trans-Baikal Military District. In 1956, he was sent to the group of Soviet troops in Germany, where he was the commander of an infantry platoon and then a company until 1962. In 1965-1970, he was a senior officer of the regimental staff, regimental commander, deputy division commander in the Leningrad Military District. In 1973-1975, he served as a division commander in the group of Soviet troops in Germany with the rank of major General, chief of staff of a military unit in Magdeburg. In 1979-1982, he was Chief of Staff of the Volga Military District, a senior employee of the USSR Ministry of Defense. He participated in three major military exercises — Dvina, Dnepr in the Leningrad Military District, and Shield in East Germany. In 1982, he was appointed Senior advisor to the Vietnamese People's Army. In 1983, upon his return to the country, he fell ill and died at the Burdenko Military Hospital in Moscow. His body was taken to Almaty and buried at the Kensai Cemetery.
