There is a legend associated with Mount Akbota-Sankibai, which says that in ancient times a warrior-batyr lived in these places, whose name was Sankibai, he had a daughter Akbota, she was quite young, she was all 16 years old. When Sankibai batyr went to meet Abylkayyr Khan, Kalmyks bandits attacked his tribe in the steppe and robbed his settlement. During the attack, his daughter Akbota died, according to other information, his daughter survived that attack, but gathered the remnants of a tribe of capable men, put on armor herself and rushed in pursuit of the Kalmyks. But the Kalmyks turned out to be more cunning, they waited for Akbota's combat team, lured them into an ambush and killed them there. It happened just in the place where Mount Akbota-Sankibai is now located. And here the father buried his daughter, after that this place is considered sacred.
