The East Kazakhstan Regional Museum of Arts is an architectural monument, it was opened in Ust–Kamenogorsk in 1990 in a building-a monument of architecture of the XIX century. By the decision of the State Committee for Culture of the Kazakh SSR dated 02/18/1991, more than 90 paintings and graphic works transferred from the regional ethnographic museum served as the basis for the opening of the art museum. Later, in 1991, the family of the East Kazakhstan artist Leonid Evtikhievich Ageikin, a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, presented 1000 paintings and graphic works to the museum. The museum building has expositions: the music department, the literary department and the fine arts department. The museum's collection consists of 8,358 items. The museum has created a fund of children's creativity, where 499 prints and graphic works are stored. The museum's activities are the study and popularization of the cultural heritage of East Kazakhstan in the fields of art, literature and music.
