Museum Exposition -
The first part of the exhibition of the Museum of Archaeology is devoted to the theme "The First Communal Society and Its Disintegration". The stone exhibits presented here show that the land of Kazakhstan belongs to the first formed and developed region of mankind. The exposition presents flint stone tools found in Paleolithic settlements, as well as stone hammers, scrapers, etc., collected from Stone Age monuments located throughout Kazakhstan. Stone tools and weapons found during excavations in Karatau are collected. Among them are many spearheads, arrowheads, hand sledgehammers. The tools of the Neolithic and Eneolithic eras are made of stone: axes, spearheads, found during excavations in Eastern, Southern and Central Kazakhstan.
The second section of the archeology museum is dedicated to the monuments of the Bronze Age - the Andronovo culture, the Begazy-Dandybaev culture. Copper and lead deposits necessary for the manufacture of bronze tools were discovered in Eastern and Central Kazakhstan. It is not without reason that many settlements and cemeteries of the Bronze Age were discovered in these regions. The museum exposition presents spearheads, arrowheads, bronze and gold jewelry. Ceramics, axes, poleaxes and jewelry found in the mountains and burial grounds demonstrate clear signs of the Andronovo culture and its distinctive features in the southern and southeastern regions.
The third part of the archeology museum is dedicated to the early Iron Age (VIII-V century BC). The department contains weapons, harnesses, works of applied art, bone products and cast bronze bodies of animals collected during the study of cultural monuments, Tasmola. Of particular interest is the restored clothing of the "Golden Man" found in the Esik burial mound, which clearly shows the development of the Saka culture in the Zhetysu region. In 1997, a new example of the Golden Man's clothing was exhibited in the museum. Its original is kept in a special gold vault. Bronze sculptures based on skulls, restored in the workshop of M. M. Gerasimov, reproduce the faces of representatives of the tribes inhabiting the land of Kazakhstan.
The fourth section of the archeology museum is dedicated to medieval monuments. Here are ceramics, glass and copper products, works of applied art collected during research conducted in the medieval cities of Taraz, Almaly, Talgar, Aktobe, Baba-Ata. A special exhibition was created on the materials of the city of Otrar, which has been conducting research for many years. The aerial photograph of the city clearly shows traces of its construction in the 16th-18th centuries. A number of paintings and two models are presented, depicting the achievements of medieval construction art and architecture. These are: the mausoleums of Aisha-Bibi and Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. The museum's collection is replenished with new materials every year.
