The Republican Museum of Books in Almaty city was opened in 1978, is a cultural institution. It contains examples of book and printing culture, written monuments, promoting the achievements of science and culture of Kazakhstan. The history of the formation and development of book publishing and modern publishing work in the republic is covered in 6 halls of the museum. Among the museum exhibits are photocopies of rare works. Also among the books published in the 17-19 centuries, there are posthumous editions of Shokan Valikhanov and Abay Kunanbayev, from the first published alphabet to multi-volume works of modern scientists and poets-writers. Two halls of the museum are dedicated to the history of printing and book printing in Kazakhstan. Another feature of the museum is the scientific and auxiliary equipment here there is an interactive display of maps, diagrams, panoramas, diagrams with multi-colored illumination. The museum collection contains 35,000 exhibits, including 5,000 rare exhibits, the main part of which are books, photographs, works of art.
