The area of the main stage of the Astana Opera is 935 square meters. The width of the main stage is 21 meters, and the depth is 59 meters. For example, the large stage of the opera house in the city of Oslo is only 16 meters wide and 40 meters deep. The new theater in Astana has two additional side stages. These scenes, known in theatrical slang as "pocket", are preferably moved with ready-made scenery when necessary. Thus, it ensures the continuity of the performance cycle. Thanks to this, the Astana Opera has great opportunities for staging the most complex performances.
Under the stage, at a depth of 12 meters, there is a lower level, that is, an engine room with an automatic control system. All this makes the Astana Opera stage one of the most technically equipped in the world. The orchestra pit consists of three platforms. They are located on different levels and are designed for 120 seats of musicians. The Astana Opera Hall accommodates 1,250 spectators. Its orchestra seats 450 spectators. The main hall has the shape of a horseshoe, reminiscent of the hall of the world's best opera houses, but decorated in the national Kazakh style. In addition, the building has 8 additional halls, 11 rehearsal rooms, a chamber music hall with 250 seats, a press room and other functional rooms.
