List and photos of wild tulips in Kazakhstan -
The Single–Flowered Tulip (Tulipa uniflora) is one of the most elegant and modest representatives of the tulip family. Its delicate flowers, like small yellow stars, decorate the steppes and foothills of Kazakhstan, creating amazing landscapes. modesty and harmony with nature. Its exquisite beauty and graceful shape make it a real gem among wild tulips. Despite its external fragility, this flower demonstrates incredible resistance to harsh natural conditions. The tulip was first described back in 1767 by the Swedish naturalist and botanist Carl Linnaeus. He conducted his description based on the collected samples in the Altai mountains in the area of the Blue Hill.
The Single–Flowered Tulip is its main decoration. The petals are bright yellow, with an orange or reddish tinge at the base. The shape of the flower is cup-shaped, and its diameter reaches 3-4 cm. The outer petals often have a richer shade, which creates the effect of a "fiery splash" among the steppe landscape. The tulip blooms in April-May, and bears fruit in June. It reproduces both by seeds and vegetatively. The tulip is found in the steppes and foothills of Central Asia, including Kazakhstan. It prefers open sunny areas with well-drained soils, and often grows on rocky slopes and in river valleys.

Detailed description -
The Single–Flowered Tulip (Tulipa uniflora) is a miniature but surprisingly beautiful plant that attracts attention with its modest sophistication. Its bulb is ovoid in shape, up to 2 cm in diameter, and is covered with thin, almost papery, black-brown scales, which are densely pubescent with pressed hairs on the inside. The stem of the plant is low, reaching only 10-15 cm. The leaves are narrow, linear-lanceolate, close to each other at a distance of 0.5–1.5 cm, which gives the plant a compact and neat appearance. The flower is single, slightly drooping in the bud, up to 3 cm high. The leaves of the perianth have a rounded tip and are colored bright yellow, while the outer petals are decorated with a dull purple or bluish-green stripe on the outside, which adds a special sophistication to the flower. The staminate filaments and anthers are yellow, and the ovary has a very long column. The fruit is an ovoid-cylindrical capsule, the length of which, together with the spout, reaches 4-5 cm with a width of no more than 1 cm. The box can contain up to 103 normally developed seeds. The plant reproduces both by seeds and vegetatively. The flowering period falls at the end of April — May, and fruiting occurs in June – July.
The single-flowered tulip is found on sandy areas and gravelly slopes, starting from the desert foothills and ending with the upper belt of the mountains. Its range covers the Altai and Tarbagatai Mountains, as well as the Zaisan basin in the East Kazakhstan region. In culture, this species is known mainly in the conditions of Kazakhstan. For example, in the Altai Botanical Garden (collection of Yu.A. Kotukhov), the tulip has been successfully grown since 1967, where it is propagated both by seeds and vegetatively. However, in the conditions of the city of Almaty, this species is not stable enough: individuals attracted by bulbs in 1989 bloomed for 12 years, gradually falling out. Fruiting was irregular, and cases of vegetative reproduction were isolated. Despite this, the Single-flowered tulip remains an original miniature decorative species, promising for use in rock gardens. Interestingly, in Siberia, the bulbs of this tulip are eaten. Due to the rarity and vulnerability of the species, it is recommended for inclusion in the second edition of the Red Book and is protected on the territory of the West Altai Nature Reserve.
