The Cathedral of St. Andrew the Apostle (St. Andrew's Cathedral) is a Russian Orthodox church in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. The cathedral was built in the period from 2001-2007 according to the project of architect Yuri Mikhailovich Trashkov and accommodates about 2000 people. The service in the cathedral building was held for the first time on August 6, 2006. Regular church services have been celebrated since Christmas 2008. The consecration of St. Andrew's Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Monastery took place on August 29, 2008 by the Metropolitan of Astana and Almaty. The cathedral is built in the typical form of a Russian Orthodox cathedral. A classic central building with a large golden dome in the middle and four small golden domes at the four corners of the cathedral. Above the entrance there is a bell tower with a green roof. The white and gold iconostasis was made by craftsmen from Volgodonsk, Russia. The construction of the cathedral began in 2001. The construction was supported by the akim of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk and the akim of the East Kazakhstan region and local residents. Several companies in the region, including Kazzinc and Ulba, also donated money for the construction of a new cathedral.
