Eternal Flame at the Memorial of Glory -

The Memorial of Glory in the park of 28 Panfilov Guards in Almaty is one of the most significant monuments of the Great Patriotic War in Kazakhstan and a symbol of courage, memory and gratitude to fallen heroes. The monument was opened in 1975 to mark the 30th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and became the central element of the park dedicated to the legendary soldiers of the division of General Ivan Panfilov, who heroically fought near Moscow in 1941, repelling the enemy offensive.

The architectural composition of the memorial impresses with its monumentality and symbolism. The central part is a grandiose sculptural group depicting soldiers of different nationalities of the Soviet Union who stood shoulder to shoulder to defend their Homeland. Behind them stands a stylized wall, resembling a torn battle line, from which figures of soldiers seem to break out. This sculptural composition expresses the unity and strength of the peoples who rose up to fight fascism. The monument bears the inscription "Russia is great, but there is nowhere to retreat, Moscow is behind!" signed by political instructor V. Klochkov.
