Excursion to the Aktogay cave from Taraz –
Aktogay Cave is located near the village of Aktogay in Zhambyl region. The cave is located in the Ulken-Aktau mountains, in the Sarasysuk district. Aktogay Cave is located at an altitude of 460 meters above sea level, not so high and not far from the river that flows next to the cave. It is very easy to get into the cave, there is a small ascent and a path leading to it.
Aktogay Cave – information for tourists –
The height of the cave is 5 meters, and the width of the entrance is about 12 meters. Aktogay cave goes deep into the mountain range by about 35-40 meters. The central hall of the cave is quite wide, about 14-16 meters. There is also a distant hall in the cave, but it is impossible to get into it because the passage to the distant hall collapsed and blocked the entrance. Small pieces of kerami dating back to the beginning of the Iron Age were found in the cave. The Aktogay Cave has not been fully explored and therefore Paleolithic complexes can still be discovered here.
How to get to Aktogay Cave –
To get to the cave, it is necessary to overcome 157 kilometers from the city of Taraz, which is about 2.5 hours by car.
