Bektau Ata - the mountains are located south of Saryarka. The maximum height of the highest point of the Bektau Ata mountains is 1213 meters above sea level, from this point a beautiful panorama of the surrounding area opens. It is especially beautiful here at sunrise and sunset. 8 rare plant species listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan grow in the Bektau Ata mountains. It is especially beautiful here in spring and early summer when the area is in full bloom.

How to get there and visit -

The Bektau Ata Mountains are located in the Aktogay district of the Karaganda region, 60 km north of the city of Balkhash, on a small hilly plain. The mountains stretch for 7 km from northeast to southwest, have a width of 3 km and an absolute height of 1213 m.

Lake in the Bektau Ata mountains

The slopes of Bektau Ata are steep and shiny, and the upper part is quite flat and sharp in places. There are small deposits of piezooptical minerals and natural caves. The largest of them is the Bektau Ata cave. You will also find a beautiful lake located in the cliffs of the mountains. The mountains are composed of pink granite from the Carboniferous period. Very rare shrubs and grasses grow on the slopes, aspen, willow and various shrubs are found in the tidal valleys. Deer and argali are found here.
