Lemmers tulip is a rare species that is under threat of extinction. The flower is listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan and is under strict protection.

Detailed description -

Lemmers tulip has a short erect stem. The bulb reaches 2-2.5 cm in diameter, covered with thin brown scales, slightly pubescent at the base and at the top. The flower-bearing stem is smooth, bears one flower, the height of the above-ground part is 7 cm, excluding the flower 3.5 cm long. Leaves in the amount of three, smooth, without eyelashes. The lower leaf reaches 15 × 3 cm, the upper one — 15 × 1.5 cm. The inner perianth petals are obovate, 3.5 × 2 cm in size, the outer ones are ovate. The color of the flowers is yellow with a reddish tint on the outside. The stamen filaments are smooth, yellow, 8–9 × 1.5 mm long, the anthers are black with light brown pollen, about 6 mm in size. The ovary is green, 1 cm high, with a yellow sessile stigma. In Kazakhstan, this species is found exclusively in the Mashat Canyon area, located in the Turkestan region.
