We invite you to visit the mountain lakes Kolsai and Kaindy, as in this tour we will see the Bartogai reservoir and the Charyn canyon. What is remarkable about this tour is that within three days we will visit several of the most popular places in the Almaty region at once.
Kaindy (Kazakh. Қaiyңdy kuli Kajyngdy keli) is a mountain lake in Kazakhstan, which is located 129 km southeast of the city of Almaty on the northern slope of Kungey-Alatau. The lake is located at an altitude of 1867 meters above sea level in the Kolsai Lakes National Park and has a length of 400 meters. In some places it reaches a depth of 30 meters. The lake was formed in 1911 as a result of a large landslide caused by a strong earthquake. Dead trunks of the Tien Shan spruce grow in the middle of the lake.
The Kolsai lake system consists of three lakes: Lower, Middle and Upper. The Three Lakes System is located 11 km east of Lake Kaindy. The lower lake, located at an altitude of 1818 m, is one kilometer long, 400 m wide and 80 m deep. Swimming and fishing are prohibited, but you can move by boat or catamaran.
The intermediate lake Kolsay (Mynzholki) is located at an altitude of 2252 m. Above sea level. Its depth is 50 m1. It is the largest of the three lakes. The upper lake Kolsay is located at an altitude of 2850 m. It is the smallest of the three lakes.
Kolsai Lakes are located in the Kolsai Lakes National Park and are the main tourist attraction. In the vicinity there is a 25 km long pedestrian route passing through three Kolsai lakes, the Sary-Bulak pass and the Issyk-Kul lake1. The trekking excursion lasts three days, and the route can be completed on horseback in one day.
