Lake Kaindy in ancient geological park, Almaty region, Kazakhstan.

Jeep tour to Kaindy Lake.

Travel from Almaty to Kaindy lake.

Kaindy is a famous beautiful mountain lake, formed over a century ago as a result of an ancient tectonic catastrophe and landslide in the Almaty region. The current level of the lake has dropped by 10 meters, and the spruce landscape growing out of the water is mesmerizing. The road to this place is mountainous, for a trip to the lake you will need a 4x4 car.

Kaindy lake - how to get there.

The lake is located 280 km east of the city of Almaty in the Kungey Alatau mountains, which are covered with pine and deciduous forests. Trunks of the Tien Shan spruce, similar to sunken ships, seem to rise 15 meters straight from the water, tree trunks reflecting on the surface of the water by the wind and playing with all the colors of the rainbow from the sun.

Lake Kaindy - information for the traveler.

The uniqueness of the lake lies in the fact that after the appearance of a natural dam that blocked the gorge, the water that filled the dam formed a lake and did not destroy the spruce trees growing here along the river and in the lake itself. (The birch river flows into the lake and passes through a two-sided rocky cliff with a height of about 20 meters). When you see such a panorama, you see a submerged squadron of trees: bare branches of trees look like the pillars of sinking ships. The surface of the lake is constantly changing color and has a beautiful blue color. This amazing color is caused by lime and other minerals that were in the water a hundred years ago. The closer you come to the lake, the clearer the water becomes, sometimes you can see trout. Despite the low water temperature, Kaindy Lake is popular with scuba divers
