The Kaindy River is a picturesque mountain river, a right tributary of the Chilik River. The river is 22 kilometers long, it originates in the Kungey-Alatau mountains in the area of the Saty mountain pass. The river is known not only for its natural beauty, but also for its proximity to the famous Kaindy Lake, which attracts tourists and photographers from all over the world. In the lake there are Tien Shan spruces, which ended up in the water after the earthquake of 1911, as a result of which the lake itself was formed. The waters of the river are fed by glaciers and underground water sources. The river flows through the Kolsay Lakes National Park, which is famous for its three lakes, which are located far from each other and along them up the gorge there is a walking route. In the Kaindy River gorge, just below Lake Kaiyndy, there is a horse farm where you can rent horses for a walk along the river to the lake and back.

How to get there and visit -

Information -

The banks of the Kaindy River are decorated with dense coniferous forests consisting of Tien Shan spruce, as well as alpine meadows with an abundance of herbs. In spring and summer, wild tulips, irises and other mountain flowers bloom here, creating incredible landscapes. In autumn, the forest turns golden and crimson, and in winter the area is covered with snow, turning into a real fairy tale. The climate in the river area is sharply continental, with warm summers and cold winters. The average temperature in summer ranges from +15 to +25°C, and in winter it can drop to -10…-20°C. The high-mountain location makes the air clean and fresh, and the natural landscapes are ideal for photo shoots and travel.
One of the main attractions in the Kaindy River area is Lake Kaindy - a unique natural reservoir with a flooded forest, which looks like a movie set. The water in the lake is turquoise, and the dead tree trunks sticking out from under the water create a mystical atmosphere. This region is ideal for hiking and horseback riding tours, trekking, and photo expeditions. The routes include: a tour to the Kaindy River and Kaindy Lake – a trip along the gorge with an overnight stay in tents or a guest house. Trekking along the Kaiyndy River Gorge – walks along mountain routes, photo sessions against the backdrop of the river and lake. Photo tour "Flooded Forest" – professional shooting on the banks of the lake and river, sunrise and sunset landscapes. Combined tours – trips with a visit to the village of Saty, Kolsay Lakes, Lake Kaindy and the Charyn Canyon. These tours are suitable for both experienced travelers and beginners, as well as for photographers looking for unique nature shots. This route is a great opportunity to see the wild nature of Kazakhstan, enjoy the clean air and feel the real freedom of mountain landscapes.
The water of the Kaindy River, having passed its path, flows into the Chilik River – one of the largest rivers in southeastern Kazakhstan, which then carries its waters further and flows into the Ili River. This place is popular among lovers of hiking, fishing and active recreation.
