Geo-architectural complex “Linear Pillars” –
Travel to the Stone Tale tract –
“Linear Pillars” (Stone Tale) are the most important attraction of the Western Altai Nature Reserve, also known as the place, the high-mountain tract “Stone Tale”. The tract consists of granite piles of stones on an area of 8 square kilometers. Some granite outcrops reach a height of up to 30 meters. It is incredibly beautiful and very quiet here; according to legend, an ancient tribe of giants lived here. The tract in its lower reaches is surrounded by a beautiful coniferous forest, through which you need to walk to get to the “Stone Fairy Tale” tract. Also in this area there is a complex of Beloubinsky lakes with the most beautiful mountain lake Kedrovoe. Here live such wild animals as roe deer, red deer, elk, brown bear, and very rare species of birds.
How to get there, visit –
Linear Pillars (Kamennaya Skazka tract) is located in the mountains of the Western Altai Nature Reserve, Kazakhstan Altai, the western end of the Koksu ridge, the eastern end of the Ivanovo ridge, the area of the Narym ridge and the Kholzun ridge, Ridder and Zyryanovsky districts, East Kazakhstan region, the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The “Stone Fairy Tale” tract or Linear Pillars, natural formation. This complex attracts people from all over the world; here you can feel something unusual and maybe even see it. The region is full of ancient legends; locals say that in Kamennaya Skaz the compass and all kinds of navigation equipment such as a GPS navigator stop working. Fogs are also very common here, so it is very easy to get lost and lost in the fog, so in this region you need to move only at times when there is no fog. The entire granite massif resembles an ancient petrified dragon, someone sees petrified giants here, and in general, every stone here looks like something, maybe a bird, maybe a fairy-tale animal, or an unknown fairy-tale animal. A mountain route leads to this place, which we crossed on horseback; we used horses to transport cargo and people. To visit these places we need at least 5 days for the entire trip. The highest point of this region is Mount Skazka, whose height is 2169 meters above sea level. The entire journey takes place at altitudes ranging from 1000 meters above sea level to 2169 meters.
