Hiking in the mountains of the Trans-Ili Alatau -
The Aksai River is 70 km long and has a catchment area of 566 km2. The river flows through the picturesque Aksai mountain gorge in the mountains of the Trans-Ili Alatau within the city of Almaty. A mudflow occurred on the river in 1921, but it did not cause any significant damage. The river flows into the Kaskelen River, and originates in the upper reaches of the Kaskelen Gorge.

How to get there and visit -
The river is located in the Karasai district of the Almaty region. The right tributary of the Kaskelen River. It flows through the Aksai mountain gorge. It originates in the glaciers of the Trans-Ili Alatau and passes through various landscapes.

Tourist Information
There are two moraine high-altitude lakes in the upper reaches of the river, and there is a mountain route to them that can take two days. The river valley is very beautiful, untouched by nature, there is almost no one in the gorge, so here you can be alone away from the city, sit in the forest, light a fire. There are many places along the river where you can sit by the water, the water in the river is cold, but in the summer you can quickly plunge into the water. There are 15 small glaciers in the upper reaches of the river.
