Rafting on the Ili River in the Tamgaly-Tas tract -
Rock carvings in the Tamgaly-Tas tract on the river or are very popular. The images of the Buddha that were discovered here were supposedly depicted here 500 years ago. Buddha images were depicted on large rocks, which are located on the banks of the Ili River. Tamgaly-Tas in translation from the Kazakh language means "stones with drawings". Images of the Buddha (Bodhisattvas) are very beautiful and well preserved, you can also see Tibetan inscriptions here, the drawings date back to the XIV-XVI centuries. The Tamgaly-Tas complex also includes ancient Turkic runic inscriptions of the 8th-9th centuries, presumably left by the Kipchaks.
