Mount Sherkala is a huge mountain, a unique creation of nature, a landmark of the Mangyshlak peninsula, the height of the mountain is 307 meters, which is quite high for this region. Mount Sherkala is also a sacred mountain for the local population, the Great Silk Road passed next to the mountain in ancient times. There are many stories and legends associated with the mountain, one of the legends says that a certain space object and an underground city are hidden under the mountain, in which people live who did not want to be discovered. In the area of Mount Sherkala there are also spherical earth formations that we will definitely visit and you can see them in the photo below.

On the one hand, Mount Sherkala looks like a lion, on the other hand, this mountain looks like a Kazakh Yurt. From the Turkmen language, Sherkala translates as Lion Mountain or Lion Fortress. Locals call the mountain the Yurt of the Gods or the Sphinx Mountain. It will take you three hours to get around Mount Sherkala, so count your time and be sure to take water with you and cover your head with a hat. At the foot of the mountain is the ruins of an ancient city, which are very poorly preserved. Excavations at the ancient settlement of Kyzylkala are also carried out here.
